I am delighted to introduce you to Cliodhna and Kari from Doing the Best We can who are based on Main Street
Doing the best we can was set up 6yrs ago when Cliodhna and Kari found themselves seeking support while their loved ones had mental health difficulties. Their peer support network provides information and support to parents / guardians and those indirectly affected by mental health difficulties within the family. We have opened Mayra house at 6 Main Street, Raheny which will provide a centre for parents / guardians.
Services provided focus on the parents understanding of their child’s difficulties, who to contact for medical support and one to one or group peer support so the parents can talk to others in similar situations as themselves and not feel alone. We recently welcomed Lisa Bethel, play therapist into the bungalow where she counsels the children and we are there for the parents.
Parents / guardians can meet in the bungalow and take part in activities, rediscover the person who is now the parent and become empowered to take on challenges to help themselves and their families. We believe that ‘’ It takes a village to raise a child’’ and there’s no better place to start than Raheny.
We are in the process of designing an outdoor seating space where all parents / guardians can relax and have a cuppa. A garden of remembrance for those who have passed from suicide has been discreetly positioned so loved ones can sit in peace.
Pop in and say hi we are currently opened from 10 – 4pm until restrictions are lifted
